Description:

The included S&W factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length, and nickel finish and that the revolver had checkered walnut non-medallion square butt grips when it was shipped to Wolf & Klar Co. of Fort Worth, Texas, on July 18, 1925. The letter states that the engraving "appears to be the work of Wolf & Klar Co." The revolver features 80% coverage of a zig-zag geometric pattern engraving which includes wavy lines, scrollwork and floral motifs. The standard S&W factory markings are present. All nickel finish with casehardened hammer and trigger and fitted with pearl grips. The right grip panel has a carved steer head with jeweled eyes. Also included with the revolver is a notarized letter stating that the revolver belonged to George Edgar Chollar who was Chief of Police in Fort Worth, Texas, from 1917-1918.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as period custom embellished. The revolver retains 98% nickel finish showing very limited light flaking. The hammer and trigger retain 97% of the vivid case colors. The period replacement grips are very fine with a small repaired chip near the top (right panel). The steer head is missing a jeweled eye. Mechanically excellent.
