Manufactured in Japan, the Model 23 Classic was only imported in 1986 and 1987. Dual white bead sights on the matte rib with the East Alton, Illinois, address on the left barrel, "MADE IN JAPAN" on the right, a "28" marking on the rear of the rib, improved cylinder and modified chokes, 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors. The frame is lightly scroll engraved with a gold finished single trigger, selective tang safety and a golden inlaid quail on the underside. Mounted on a checkered walnut pistol grip stock with an ebony insert at the forearm tip, engraved steel grip cap, unmarked inscription panel and a solid Winchester recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 1/2 inches. Complete with a Winchester luggage-style takedown case, original factory box numbered to the gun, two keys, spare wood buttplate and papers.

Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish with slight handling wear, slight muzzle wear and wear at the safety. The engravings and gold inlaid quail are crisp and clear. The wood is very fine with minor scattered scratches and dings. The checkering is crisp. The case is good with sticky residue on the leather areas. The box is very fine with one minor tear. Mechanically excellent.
