The rifle was manufactured in 1887 and has the standard Winchester markings, a blade front sight (bead absent), elevation adjustable sporting rear sight, a tang mounted Lyman peep sight with disk aperture, standard smooth walnut stock and forearm and a rifle buttplate.

Rating Definition:

About good. The rifle has primarily a gray-brown patina with traces of original finish, spotting, and small marks and scratches. The buttplate has oxidation and pitting, and there are a few other isolated spots of light pitting. The revarnished wood is fair with a gouge on the right side of the forearm that appears to be caused by a strike from a blade, other small divots, a small notch on the comb, a large chip at the buttplate tang, and numerous scratches and scrapes. The action is very good and the markings are legible.
