Description:

The lock plate is dated "1864" behind the hammer with the standard U.S./Colt markings stamped ahead of the hammer. The bolster has the eagle/shield motif. The barrel is also dated "1864" and has "V/P/eagle head proofs" and "MLH STEEL". Equipped with a three leaf rear sight graduated to 500 yards. Full length stock with three "U" stamped barrel bands, "US" marked buttplate, "GNH" stamped on the right side of the wrist, inspector "EMW" marking near the buttplate tang and two script cartouches on the left flat. The iron ramrod has a trumpet head. With a period wood muzzle plug.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle-musket has an overall mottled original armory bright polish overall. The stock is also very fine with some minor pressure dents and scratches. The cartouches are crisp. Mechanically excellent.
