Description:

This rifle is not signed butt has a very similar lock style and extended ramrod holder on the right side to multiple swivel breech rifles signed by Amos S. Bisbing of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. However, Bisbing rifles have release levers for the barrels on the bottom not the side and have fancy German silver patch boxes. Swivel breech rifles were also fairly widely built in the states that made up the Old Northwest. The rifle has blade and notch sights on each barrel, cross hatch and geometric engraving on the side panels, coordinating designs on the patch box, an inlaid German silver squirrel and small compass on the cheek rest, and a small eagle inlay behind the cheek rest. There is a "Teller 10" collection marking inside the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The iron components have dark brown patina and some mild pitting. One of the front sights is likely an older replacement given the two are different. The brass and German silver components have an aged patina throughout. The engraving patterns are crisp. The stock is also very good and has very dark patina with some flame figure showing through, scratches, and dings. The lock functions fine.
