This mid-19th century rifle is stamped with "G KRUG/MT CARMEL ILL" on the barrel between the rear sight and the breech. It has fixed blade and notch sights, double set triggers, a pewter forend cap, engraved hardware lock, maple half stock, a nicely carved cheekpiece, and some light striped figure.

Rating Definition:

Good. The lock and barrel have a dark patina with some light pitting and oxidation. The brass and pewter have a dark aged patina. The stock is also good with some minor cracking, small chips, mostly smooth surfaces, and some material absent at the breech. The missing material on the left was accented by a wavy carving pattern in the period of use. The lock and set triggers function very well, and the markings are clear.
