Description:

The vast majority of the 55,343 New Line 22 revolvers manufactured by Colt in 1873-77 have 2 1/4 inch barrels. This example has a 2 3/4 inch flat side barrel with the etched "COLT NEW 22" panel on the left, two-line address on top along with a blade front sight, and the Second Model style patent marking on the bottom. The cylinder is the Second Model type with long cylinder flutes, and the frame has hand scratched markings just ahead of the grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 75% plus of the original nickel plating remains. Most of the flaking is on the frame near the breech and the top strap as well as the cylinder. There is an aged patina on the exposed brass. The grips are very good and have mild edge wear and some light scratches. The action functions fine, and the markings are mostly clear.
