This pistol is similar to those known to be carried by French officers during the late 18th century and the Napoleonic Wars. This example appears to be signed "Rouen" on the left lock and has a "P" as part of an illegible marking on the right grip that may be for Paris. The rib has some simply engraving that appears to have traces of gold fill, and the stock has silver wire inlays, floral carving, and a floral silver thumb plate.

Fair. The iron has gray and brown patina and mild oxidation and extensive pitting. The stock is fair and has lightly sanded carving, a crack on the right, and some minor chipping around the locks. The locks function fine.
