Description:

The lightly engraved lock plate is marked "BOWLS." The top barrel flat is marked "CORK" with a band engraving at the breech. The barrel tang and trigger guard have a floral engraving with the trigger guard having a pineapple finial. The barrel, which has a brown twist pattern, gauges at approximately .69 caliber and has fixed sights. The full length stock has a single barrel wedge, silver thumb escutcheon and checkering on the grip area. The pistol has a swivel iron ramrod. A James Bowls of Cork, Ireland, circa 1804-1930 on Duncan Street, is listed in "Heer Der Neue Stockel."

Rating Definition:

Very good. The pistol has a smooth dark patina overall with traces of the brown twist pattern remaining on the barrel. The stock is also very good with some minor pressure dents and scratches with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically functions, but does not have a full cock notch on hammer.

Very good. The pistol has a smooth dark patina overall with traces of the brown twist pattern remaining The stock is good with a minor crack on the left flat, a repair near the lock, and some minor pressure dents and scratches. Overall, the checkering is crisp. Mechanically fine.
