Description:

This pistol was beautiful handcrafted by the late master gunmaker Cecil G. Brooks (1913-2006). Brooks hand built all of the NRA keynote speaker presentation rifles from 1955 to 2005. Many of his firearms have hundreds of hours of careful craftsmanship invested in them. His rifles have been owned and prized by many significant Second Amendment defenders including Charlton Heston (he held the rifle over his head during the famous "out of my cold, dead hands" speech), Ronald Reagan, Tom Selleck, Barry Goldwater, Dick Cheney, multiple high ranking U.S. military officers, and many others. He also built rifles on custom order for regular folk, and his firearms are highly prized and valuable collectibles. Included with this beautiful pistol is a letter form 1992 signed by Cecil G. Brooks indicating this "presentation type flintlock pistol" was manufactured specifically for Chuck Mahoney. Also included is a clipping from a magazine article that shows Mr. Brooks polishing a very similar pistol. The pistol is stamped "C. G. BROOKS" on the lock and on a brass inscription panel on the barrel behind the rear sight. It has attractive floral and geometric engraving, blade and notch sights, two brass bands at the breech, German silver furniture, and an attractively carved maple stock in traditional "Kentucky" bird's head profile with a beautiful aqua fortis finish and some flame figure. The butt has a gold 1999 dated coin inlay with two grizzlies in a forest scene and three paw prints. The pistol comes in a gorgeous aqua fortis finished curly maple display case with green fabric lined and padded interior.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with only light handling and storage marks. This is a stunning contemporary pistol built by one of the most esteemed American master gunmakers of the 20th century.
