Description:

The right side of the frame under the grip panel is marked "LORON/&G." The letter "G" stands for Gaupillat, the munitions manufacturer who made bullets for Loron. Pierre Antoine Loron was a gunsmith from Versailles, circa 1843 to 1872. This example is fitted with fixed sights on the full octagon barrel, an open top frame and smooth ebony grips. A floral scroll engraving appears on the frame, the area around the hammer, barrel at the breech, trigger guard, back strap and butt. A "crown/V" proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel lug and is repeated on the cylinder, which also has a Liege "EL/G" proof. The front face of the cylinder is marked with the number "19." A lever on the left side of the barrel lug allows for the barrel and cylinder to disconnect, thus allowing for loading/reloading. The lever also acts as an extractor. The hammer has a centerfire striker. Loron revolvers are more commonly found as pinfires.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver has an overall bright polished appearance with some of the small parts retaining traces of original niter blue finish. The engraving is crisp. The grips are fine with a repaired left panel and some very scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
