This is one of the finest examples of a unique 1940 dated "P-Code Commercial Krieghoff" Luger pistol that we have ever offered at auction. These were produced in a very small quantities in the serial number range of P1060-1280 with an estimated total production of only 200 pistols. The pistol has the distinctive Krieghoff high polish blue finish and straw colored small parts. The chamber is dated "1940" and the toggle link has the Krieghoff trademark of "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL", with the symmetrical blade, later "I" centered over the "S" with the flat bottom "U" with rounded corners. It is commercially proofed with a vertical "Eagle/N" Nazi commercial proofs on the underside of the barrel, the left side of the barrel extension and left receiver rail. It has the commercial serial number placement with the full serial number "P1150" on the front of the frame, and left side of the barrel extension. The underside is unnumbered and it is serial numbered with the last two digits "50" on the rear of the side plate with the remaining parts being unnumbered. It is fitted with unmarked brown checkered Ritzmann type plastic grips. It is complete with the original matching magazine with the aluminum base stamped "1150". This exceptional Luger was brought home by Sgt. Raymond Dexter Jr., and this lot also contains a US Army, "Certificate of Retention" singed by Sgt. Raymond Dexter dated 2 Feb 1946 that lists captured war material as: "1 pistol". It is also accompanied by a photo album with various photos that belonged to Sgt. Dexter, showing the various towns that Sgt. Dexter visited in Germany as well as in France, circa 1945 along with numerous pictures of members of his unit, as well as the German autobahn highway. The photo album also contains various Nazi Reichmarks as well as various coins and post war German marks of various denominations.

Excellent plus with 99% of the bright original blue finish overall with minor high spot wear. The various smaller parts retain 97% of their straw colors with some light wear on the edges of the trigger. The grips are in excellent plus condition. Mechanically excellent. An excellent all original, high condition Krieghoff Commercial Luger which would be extremely difficult to improve upon!
