Description:

This is a very rare, high condition example of a presentation grade DWM Model 1900 American Eagle commercial Luger semi-automatic pistol. The top of the chamber area has three large raised gold inlayed initials ("MBW") that have a distinctive South American script style with serifs. These early commercial pistols were produced and sold throughout the world market, in both North and South America and Europe. The DWM factory had many rifle contracts with various South American countries, so this could have easily been intended as a token of appreciation. It has the standard DWM markings on the front toggle, with the various early features, such as dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety, and no stock lug. They have a beautiful pre-war high polish rust blued finish with the straw colored small parts with checkered walnut grips. The lower safety area is unmarked and left with the bright polish. It is marked "GERMANY" on the front of the frame, and is correctly serial numbered in the commercial fashion with the serial number (13954) stamped under the barrel and also on the front of the frame. This Luger comes with an original tin-plated magazine with a unmarked wooden base. As noted this wonderful Luger comes with two spare magazines that have new walnut bases, an original brass cleaning rod with a steel oiler/handle on the end, a unmarked takedown tool, pin-punch, a small circular brass parts container and a box of DWM marked 7.65 Luger ammunition. The Luger and all the accessories are stored in an original DWM light brown leather carrying case. The case measures approximately 7 1/2 inches wide and 16 3/4 inches long and has a textured leather cover with heavy brass reinforced corners. The case has a small carrying handle on the front with silver plated locks on the front.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the blued finish overall, with edge and high spot wear, with blue loss on at the muzzle, side plate hump and front frame rails. The raised gold initials are very distinctive and completely intact. The smaller parts retain 70% of their straw colors overall with more wear on the safety lever. The grips are in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering with some minor handling marks on the sides. The various accessories are all in very fine condition. The custom case is also in fine condition overall with all the leather and brass corners still intact with only minor scuffs and creases in the surface of the leather in a few places. The leather has a very nice light color overall.
