Description:

The G41 rifle was manufactured on a limited basis from 1941 until mid-1943 when it was replaced with new G43/K43 series of rifles. The G41s used a complicated barrel mounted gas trap system that was originally designed/copied from the Model 1922 Danish Bang rifles developed by Soren Bang. This system used a gas-impingement type system combined with a full length operating rod positioned above the rifle barrel. It was very functional but expensive to produce and manufacture. This semi-automatic function of this rifle and larger magazine capacity was highly desirable on the Eastern Front. The left side of the receiver is marked "G.41" followed by the serial number and "ac/43". It has the desirable all machined parts with a laminated stock and black resin (plastic) handguard. The receiver and various other parts all carry the correct "eagle/359" Waffenampt proofs along with the eagle firing proofs. The rear sight base has the machined in scope rails intended to use a straddle type sniper scope mount (not included with this rifle). The left side of the buttstock has a large double "eagle/359" proof (very faint) below the sling slot, a faint serial number and additional "eagle/359" Waffenampt proof on the underside of the stock. The rifle comes with its original cleaning rod and a crosshatched leather sling. All visible numbers, including the magazine, match.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 40% of the original blue finish still remaining overall with blue loss on the exposed parts, such as the action cover, the box magazine, the front barrel band, and gas trap system. Additionally, the gas trap system and front band show small areas of erosion or fine pitting on the sides with some minor dings or light vise marks on the sides of the front sight base. The stock and handguard are both in fine condition with a nice, original, dark color overall and is slightly dirty from actual field use and handling over the years. There is a "duffle bag" cut under the middle barrel band. The stock shows minor handling marks and light scratches on the sides and light but visible proofmarks. A very good example of an honest original WWII early G41 semi-automatic rifle.
