Description:

This is a mid production Type 2 paratrooper rifle manufactured at the Nagoya Arsenal. The Nagoya Arsenal started producing this model in late 1943, this was the final paratrooper rifle version manufactured by the Japanese during WWII. It still retains the Kanji marking on top of the receiver, but the Chrysanthemum has been mostly ground off, with the bright area visible. It has the military style tangent rear sight graduated to 1,500 meters and the folding anti-aircraft wings and the inverted "V" front sight with guard. In addition to the standard markings, both the front and rear section of the takedown assembly having a matching number "604", and the underside of the barrel lug is marked "589" which matches the rifle serial number. It has a smooth hardwood stock, full length handguard, grasping grooves, and drain hole ahead of the takedown mechanism. There are small Kanji markings on the underside of the stock behind the pistol grip. It is fitted with the side mounted sling swivels and a cupped metal buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the blue finish overall, only minor edge and high spot wear, and blue loss on the bolt body from cycling the rifle. The mum is ground and the bolt has been renumbered to match rifle. The buttstock, forend, and handguards have been very lightly cleaned, but not sanded, and all are in fine condition showing only minor handling marks overall with clear visible stock proofs.
