Description:

This is a very fine example of a pre-war Japanese Baby Nambu pistol. These pistols were manufactured by the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal in Koishikawa, Tokyo between 1903 and 1928. There were approximately 6,000 produced, with this pistol being produced in the early part of the production cycle. This pistol has a high quality rust blue finish and straw colored trigger, magazine release, sear pivot pin and bolt lock with a bright finished bolt, and checkered mahogany grips. The magazine has a nickel plated body with an aluminum base. The top of the chamber area bears the four intertwined cannon balls of the Tokyo Arsenal and the right side of the receiver has the Japanese Kanji markings over the serial number "3125". The matching serial numbers are also visible on the underside of the bolt, the back side of the cocking knob, back side of the right grip and on the firing pin retainer. The firing pin is unnumbered. It comes with one original matching magazine that is numbered "3125." on the spine of the body. The "Baby" Nambu pistol is perhaps the most desirable early issue Japanese semi-automatic pistol.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear with blue loss on the rear grip strap and front underside of the barrel. There is a small area of old fine pitting on the front underside area of the barrel and the upper left edge of the rear grip strap. The small parts retain 20% of their straw colors with slightly more on the extractor. The grips are in very good condition with a nice matching dark color overall with good distinct checkering on both sides, mixed with some light wear across the checkering with a larger scratch on the upper left grip. As noted this desirable pistol has all matching numbers to include the magazine.
