Description:

This is a nice example of a C.G. Haenel Roth System semi-automatic carbine manufactured in the early 1900s. The left rear of the receiver is marked "C. G. Haenel, Suhl./System G. Roth D.R. Patent No 116061 & 118602" in script. The top right front of the receiver is marked with a "crown/N" proof and a "crown" proof on the opposite side. The same proofmarks are repeated on the bolt as well as the serial number "34". The floor plate, floor plate hardware and trigger guard are engraved with fine scroll designs. The front sight is a raised ramp with two blades, one of which is retractable. The rear sight is a two leaf variation with one fixed. Straight pull bolt, tang mounted safety, blue finish with bright bolt assembly and casehardened trigger guard, and mounted with a one-piece full length nicely figured walnut pistol grip stock with two forearm wedges, multi-point checkering on the wrist, cheekpiece, serrated horn buttplate and sling swivels. The consignor notes state that this carbine was a World War II GI souvenir.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The carbine retains 95% original blue finish with some mild thinning on the barrel and some wear on the receiver from normal usage. The trigger guard has a gray patina with some spotting on the outside and most of the original case colors on the inside. The stock is also excellent with a couple of light scratches, some minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
