Description:

Constructed from tan/khaki material overall, with the tunic outfitted for a Gefreiter (Private First Class) assigned to an artillery or air defense unit in the Afrika Korps. 1) "Holz & Binkowski" marked tropical tunic, with a set of single color enlisted shoulder boards, a very tightly stitched Luftwaffe eagle on the right breast, brown painted textured alloy buttons, and the Gefreiter ribbon chevron on the left shoulder. Four pockets are mounted on the front, with internal tabs for mounting load-bearing hooks (hooks not included) and the maker's/size markings on the inside of the left breast. Size Markings: "43 47/104/73 65". 2) "SPONER KORNITZ 41" marked tropical shirt, button-up style with the aforementioned marking in black inside the collar, a triangular silver/tan Luftwaffe eagle patch on the right breast, and un-backed artillery shoulder boards. No chevron is present on the sleeve. A pocket is present on each breast, with a set of brown painted alloy buttons. 3) Luftwaffe pattern tropical trousers, herringbone twill construction with a prominent left thigh cargo pocket, integral belt, brown bakelite buttons (several marked "L.W.") and belt-adjustable cuffs. The letters "IL" (or "71") have been stitched into the exterior waistline, with the interior waistline bearing a faded R.B. number among the size markings. Similar trousers have been noted as having been produced in occupied/Vichy France. Size Markings: "84 96/119 102". 4) Necktie, tan khaki construction. Marked "0060/534/788" on the small end (very similar to RB marking, but no "R.B." next to it). The tunic in particular is formerly of the George Petersen Collection.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, with some light wear and staining overall. The unissued tunic shows some light spots, and the trousers have worn markings.
