This is an example of a WWI era 1896 commercial contract Broomhandle Mauser pistol that is complete with a matching wooden shoulder stock. This pistol has the wartime blued finish with the heat blued small parts and the narrow serrated grip panels. The top of the barrel chamber area is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N," and the left side of the chamber is marked with a crown "U" with an additional crown "U" proof on top of the rear section of the breech bolt. The right side rear frame is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A. NECKAR". It is fitted with the standard fixed inverted "v" front sight, adjustable rear sight graduated from 50 to 1000 meters. The hammer does not have the "NS" markings, and it is fitted standard commercial 32 groove grip panels and a lanyard loop on the butt. The underside of the barrel has a small, short British proofmark of a "NP/.30" .985"12 TONS". As noted, it is complete with an original matching wooden shoulder stock/holster with the iron numbered (765) on top. The holster come with a small leather strap attached to the stock loop.

Excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish overall, edge and high spot wear, minor blue loss on the lower edge of the magazine well, some spotting, and minor blue loss on the grip straps. The grips are in very fine condition with nice, distinct grooves and minor handling marks on the sides and lower butt areas. Mechanically excellent. The stock is in very fine condition with a medium brown color overall showing minor handling marks on the sides from use. The metal parts retain 80% of their blue finish.
