Description:

Constructed from heavy gray wool, the trousers and tunic are set up for a Oberfeldwebel (one of four German ranks technically comparable to Private First Class) in aviation or with the paratroopers, as evidenced by the golden yellow collar tabs and trim, which includes an early pattern thick braid around the collar. A pair of silver ribbon chevrons with a gray felt backing are present on the left sleeve, with a set of three nickel finished wing emblems on each tab and an early style embroidered Luftwaffe eagle on the right breast, partially overlapping the pocket flap (note: eagle was properly stitched, and the flap freely moves). With the exception of the "EXTRA FEIN(sic)" shoulder boards, all buttons bear "C.TH.DICKE" maker's marks, and the interior is ink stamped "Wilhelm Lucas I" above the size measurements, an "X"d out ink marking (possibly including the date 1937) on the interior pocket, and the ink stamping "Wachbatl.d. Luftw. Bln/I/1.Komp." lower on the pocket, suggesting issue to one of the Wachbattalion men assigned to the defense of Luftwaffe facilities in Berlin, the nerve center of Nazi Germany and home of the Reichs Air Ministry, the military and technical brain trust of the Luftwaffe. Size Markings: 41 43/96/71 62. The trousers are of matching dark construction with white cloth waist trim and maker's marks from E. Knoch of Moenchroeden (a district of Roedental in Coburg). Size Markings: 78 80/111/96".

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, with some light staining appropriate to age and wear and a few hints of moth activity at the cuffs.
