Description:

This is an example of an mid-production DWM Model 1908 German Navy Luger. These were the standard pre-WWI Navy Luger issued to the Imperial German Navy all the way through WWI into the Weimar era with some issued during WWII, (albeit refurbished). This model has the blank chamber area with the "DWM" logo on the front toggle, desirable "6" inch Nay length barrel and no grip safety. The left side of the barrel extension has the double "Crown/M" proofmarks with a smaller "Crown/M" acceptance proof on the underside of the barrel. The left front edge of the barrel extension, rear area of the barrel and left side of he breechblock all have a single "Crown" firing proof. As noted, this model has the longer barrel with the fixed front sight and the desirable two position adjustable Navy rear sight that is graduated 100 and 200. The rear grip strap is engraved "WW/7365" indicating it was issued from the Wilhelmshaven Naval Dock Yard. It has the military style serial number placement with the full serial number stamped on the major parts with the last two digits (25) stamped on the various small parts. It has checkered walnut grips with the left grip numbered "25" and the right one unnumbered. This scarce Luger is complete with one original Navy type magazine with the nickel plated magazine body with the wooden bases that has the concentric circles on the ends. The base is only stamped with a single "Crown/M" Navy proof but no serial number.

Rating Definition:

Fine as assembled with 85% of the restored blue finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear with finish loss on the lower grip straps. The smaller parts retain 30% of their straw colors overall. The grips are in very fine condition overall with only minor handling marks. It has matching numbers overall however the top end has been renumbered to match the frame. Mechanically excellent.
