Description:

Manufactured to be worn over the standard military uniform, this smock is printed on one side with spring/summer pattern "Sumpfmuster 43" (marsh pattern) fabric, which was in use briefly before introduction of a 1944 pattern, and the reverse is plain white with light striping, which could be pressed into service as winter camouflage. A scarce "sniper" veil is installed on the hood, with a delicate mesh net painted to match the exterior pattern of the smock. Designed to help obscure the soldier's face, the veil was not explicitly intended as sniper equipment but has picked up the association over the years. Each cuff is fitted with a set of non-reversible gray painted steel adjustment buttons, with a black and gray waist adjustment band, cord for the neck area, and a set of reversible pocket flaps, with the right flap bearing a "II" stamp and the R.B. number. R.B. Number: 0/0250/5834. This R.B. number is from a firm in the Berlin area.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with a small amount of staining and wear. The colors are all sharp, and the buttons show a small amount of rust. The veil is in very good condition, with a few small breaks in the net, solid mounting to the hood, and fine color.
