Description:

Manufactured around 1908-1913, the Model 1908 Commercial Luger was made without a stock lug or a grip safety, and has not been cut for a hold-open device, marking the transition between the early, grip safety equipped Lugers and the later stock lug equipped ones. Fixed sights, with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle link, and an arrangement of crown "B", "U" and "G" proofs on the barrel, extension and breech assembly. "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" markings are present on the upper safety area and on the left side of the extractor, and matching external serial numbers are present on the barrel, frame, takedown latch, side plate and toggle links. Overall finish is a fine rust blue, with straw colored small parts, niter blue pins and springs, checkered grips and a nickel magazine with a "Cal 9m/m" marked wood base. With a black leatherette covered case with brown velvet lining, which contains the pistol, a takedown/loading tool, double ended pin punch, barrel rod, extra magazine, a box of Winchester 9mm Luger cartridges and an English-language copy of the instruction manual.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing some bright wear along the high edges, with a few brown spots concentrated on the grip straps and minor handling marks overall. 95% bright professionally restored straw color is present on the small parts, as well as 80% of the fiery nitre blue. The grips are excellent, with some mild dents concentrated around the magazine catch. The case is very good as custom made, with some light wear concentrated on the edges, and the accessories are very good overall, though the cover of the manual has detached and the fit of the cartridge box to the case is tight enough to prevent inspection. Mechanically excellent.
