Description:

This is the finest original example of a commercially sold late production Colt Military Model 1902 semi-automatic pistol that we have ever offered at auction. The included factory letter confirms caliber, barrel length and finish. It was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company, Chicago, Illinois, November 26, 1927. The pistol has the square butt, slide lock on the left side of the frame, lanyard swivel and eight-round blue magazine (marked "MIL. / COLT / 38 CAL." on the bottom), that distinguish it from the Colt Model 1902 "Sporting" pistol. Features rear slide serrations and blue barrel with polished chamber and muzzle. Left side of the slide is marked with the two block marking "PATENTED/APR. 20, 1897, SEPT. 9, 1902" and "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The serial number is marked on the left side of the frame, and the right side of the slide is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" ahead of the ejection port. The left upper front of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "1" over the Colt "VP/triangle" proofmark and "48" on the opposite. Fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in a banner at the top and the Rampant Colt in a circle in the center.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus, near new. The pistol retains 99% plus original high polish bright blue finish with only a few scattered very minor, barely noticeable dings and handling marks. The hammer retains 99% plus original bright case colors. The grips are also excellent plus with crisp checkering. The markings are sharp and clear. Mechanically excellent. An extra ordinary Colt Model 1902 Military semi-automatic pistol that would be impossible to improve on.
