Description:

This is a very fine all original example of a rare Campo-Giro "tubular" prototype, a small frame handgun produced circa 1904/05. This example is easily identified as it has the full length upper slide/barrel shroud, whereas the later production models have an exposed barrel. This pistol has no factory proofmarks or serial number, but it has been hand stamped on the left side with "JC". It is a blowback operated pistol with a very unusual, smooth long hammer spur with a rear grip safety with the magazine release that is tucked up underneath the rear of the trigger guard and front grip strap. It has checkered walnut grip panels and is complete with an original magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 80% plus of the original factory high polish blue finish with even honest wear overall. The hammer retains 40% of the faded case colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides mixed with light wear and minor handling marks. A nice rare example of early "tubular" prototype pistol.
