The accompanying factory letter confirms that this Model 52E is a factory custom grade target rife with high luster blue finish, 28 inch barrel in 22 LR, target stock with full length rail, rubber recoil pad with white line spacer, hand checkered pistol grip and forearm (18 lines per inch), hand honed action, hand lead lapped barrel, hand engine turned bolt and cartridge shelf, special target barrel configuration, barrel drilled and tapped for peep sights and target scope, standard rear sling swivel stud and sling swivel on end of rail, special Custom Shop proof stamp on barrel along with Winchester proof stamp and Redfield Palma match and Olympic sights. The included 1991 dated original invoice also outlines the special features. The rifle is one of the last four Model 52 target rifles manufactured (1991) and was manufactured approximately 10 year after the last Model 52s were shipped from Winchester. Note that the included original hanging tang for this rifle specifies the model as a 52D. Since there were so few Es manufactured, Winchester evidently did not see the need for a new printing run. Near new. The rifle retains 99% plus original high lustre blue finish showing the slightest handling marks. The stock is excellent plus showing very limited minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: Robert M. Lee Collection.
