The included Parker Gun Collectors Association letter confirms the serial number, barrel length, gauge, grade, original stock configuration, and the September 29, 1898 date of shipment to Salem G. LeValley of Buffalo, New York. Single nickel bead sight on the concave, matte rib with 2 9/16 inch chambers, single extractor, and improved cylinder/improved modified chokes. The casehardened frame is beautifully engraved with highly detailed game scenes of pairs of hunting dogs on the sides surrounded by tight spiraling scroll work and "PARKER BROS" in banners on either side. Even the sculpted fences feature small engraved game bird scenes. The bottom of the receiver is engraved with a wonderfully detailed scene of two deer in a field with tight scroll accents, and the trigger guard features a running buck. Mounted on a multi-point checkered splinter forearm and pistol grip stock with an inset gold inscription oval on the grip cap reading "A.J. RUSSELL/BUFFALO N.Y." and a period solid rubber recoil pad. Includes a russet leather mutton leg case with leather straps.

Very fine. The barrels have aged to a nice, even gray patina with distinct Damascus patterning, some light surface scratches, and clear rib markings. The frame has also aged to a smooth gray patina with traces of original case colors in the more protected areas around the trigger guard, highly detailed engraving, and handling marks. The period refinished wood is very fine with well defined checkering, attractive grain, a few small indentations, and light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with scattered scuffs and handling marks, solid construction, and tight stitching.
