Description:

According to the included factory letter, this pistol was one of three shipped to Stoeger Arms Company on August 15, 1940. The letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, finish, and the adjustable rear sight, with the grips "Not Listed" in typical factory fashion. Notes from the consignor suggest that the customer was Colonel Howard A. Cressman, an artillery officer with the United States Army; data on Cressman is limited, but he was a Pennsylvania National Guard member and Executive Officer of the 51st Brigade around 1956-1958. Blade front and adjustable square notch rear sights, with the one-block Colt address on the left side of the slide, "SUPER MATCH/COLT SUPER .38/AUTOMATIC" on the right next to the Rampant Colt logo. The trigger guard is marked "60" and "T/VP", and the rear of the slide is numbered to match the frame. Fitted with a checkered wide hammer, slide catch, thumb safety, short trigger and mainspring housing, with a pair of checkered grips, a full blue Super 38 Auto magazine, and a "COLT SUPER 38 AUTO MATCH" and "MB" marked barrel.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% plus original blue finish, showing some light takedown lines from the slide catch and a few bright edges and scattered light handling marks overall. The grips are excellent, with a few light dings on the otherwise sharp checkering and "R.N.B." initials applied to the inside of the panels. Mechanically excellent.
