Description:

This revolver was manufactured in the 1860s and is chambered for the 30 caliber cup primed front loading cartridge. The top of the barrel rib is marked "MERWIN & BRAY FIRE ARMS CO. N.Y.", and patent dates are marked around the five shot cylinder. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, cylinder pin, butt, and grips. The cylinder is numbered to another gun. The frame has nearly full coverage floral scroll period, possibly Japanese, engraving, and the right side of the barrel is inscribed with a series of calligraphic characters (likely Kanji).

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel and cylinder have dark brown patina and some light oxidation. The frame has aged patinas throughout and retains 30% of the silver plating. The grips are very good and have minor marks and scratches. The cylinder pin release button is absent. The action functions but the hammer spring is weak.
