Description:

Manufactured in 1903. Blade front sight, filler block in the rear sight dovetail slot and Lyman receiver sight. The top barrel flat has the two line address/patent dates and "30 W.C.F." and the upper left barrel flat has the two line nickel steel marking. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1894/-WINCHESTER-/PAT. AUG. 21. 1894." Nicely figured forearm and straight grip stock with sling swivels and crescent buttplate. According to the information provided by the included factory letter, the original rifle configuration was as follows: "Rifle, 25/35, Round barrel, plain trigger, Takedown, Sporting rear sight." The rifle was received in the warehouse on November 19, 1903, and shipped on November 20, 1903, order number T109977. The rifle was then shipped back to the factory and received in the warehouse on November 25, 1903. When it was returned to the factory the rifle received the configuration it is currently in: Rifle, 30 caliber, octagon barrel, plain trigger, and takedown, as confirmed by the factory letter. The rifle was then shipped on November 30, 1903, order number T110407.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 80% plus original blue finish showing some thinning to a brown with the buttplate mostly a mottled gray patina. The hammer and lever retain 30% original case colors. The wood is also very fine with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
