This is a very nice example of a rare blued finish factory engraved Type I or Model 2 derringer manufactured circa 1868 with manual extractor. The top of the barrel rib has the two-line Remington address/Elliot patent date marking. A factory scroll engraving is featured on the frame sides, back strap, and breech end of the top barrel. The barrel is numbered to the gun.

Fine. The derringer retains 30% bright original high polish blue finish with the balance an attractive mottled gray patina. 50% of the original nitre blue remains on the hammer. The grips are very good with high edge wear and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. Factory engraved Remington Over/Under Derringers with blue finish are extremely rare.
