James Reid manufactured under 11,000 of these .22 caliber pocket revolvers in the late 1860s to early 1880s. The serial number is on the butt, and the cylinder has the matching last two digits. The replacement cylinder pin is marked "70". It has the later period "MY FRIEND PAT D. DEC 26 1865" marking on the left side of the top strap and has attractive factory scroll and punch dot engraving. It has the desirable sliding safety feature on the bottom of frame.

Very good. The cylinder retains traces of original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The crisp frame has a very attractive aged brass patina. The engraving and markings are crisp. Mechanically excellent.
