Description:

Introduced in 1872 with a factory engraving. The frame and cylinder are profusely decorated with engraved scrollwork on a punch-dot background. The top strap has a line and dot motif. The barrel features dot and geometric line engravings at the breech and muzzle, and the top flat has the two line address/patent date marking. More scrollwork is found on the back strap and German silver trigger guard. The number "1" is marked ahead of the trigger. The removable cylinder cover has the number "757." The grips have the number "91" on the backs. The revolver was described and pictured in "The Remington Collector's Journal," 2nd quarter 2016 with the contributing author Mike Strietbeck concluding that the number "1" on the frame "is probably a high grade lot number or batch number for a special order placed during that time frame" and the revolver left the factory engraved. A photocopy of the article is included.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 50% plus untouched original nickel finish with the balance a smooth dark patina. The grips are very good with a couple small chips missing near the top and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
