Description:

From 1895 to 1903 a number of "U.S." Single Action Armies, like this one, were returned to either the Colt factory or Springfield Armory where they were refitted to 5 1/2 inch barrel length and refinished, often with little regard to which gun the parts came from, resulting in a mix of serial numbers and markings. This revolver has 5 1/2 inch barrels, casehardened black powder frames (manufactured in 1885) and blue cylinders, grip frames and barrels. This revolver is serial numbered "116375" on the frame, "1892" on the trigger guard and "11294" on the back strap. The cylinder is marked "K", "O" and "S" on the rear face. It bears the standard one-line address on top of the barrel, "P" on the bottom of the barrel and the three-line, three patent dates marking followed by "US" on the left side of the frame. There is a "G" at the top of the hammer slot, "A" on the trigger guard and "DFC" on the frame. The loading gate has the assembly number "920." It has the early "bulls eye" style ejector rod head, standard blade front and frame notch rear sights and is fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip. The left side of the grip has the date "1901" over a "OCH" cartouche. The right side of the grip has a "RAC" cartouche.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as Colt factory refurbished. The revolver retains 70% of the blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The hammer and frame retain 75% of the case colors. The grip is very fine with a couple minor handling marks and very legible markings. Mechanically excellent.
