Manufactured in 1887 and subsequently restored. This revolver appears to be either factory or New York engraved. There are floral scroll and punch dot designs on the sides of the barrel, on the cylinder flats and on the sides of the frame. The ejector housing, rear of the cylinder, top strap, back strap and trigger guard have a simple zigzag line and dot design. The recoil shield, loading gate and top of the back strap have a shell design of zigzag lines and dots. There is a row of small stars under each recoil shield. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address, the desirable "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" etched panel is on the left side of the barrel and the left side of the frame is marked with the three-line, three-patent dates. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is numbered "6". Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights all nickel finish with niter blue screw heads and trigger, and fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips.

Very good as professionally restored/assembled. The revolver retains 60% partially original nickel finish with scattered minor wear and flaking. The balance has a smooth gray patina. The barrel panel has been re-etched and the frame and back strap renumbered. There are a number of tiny dings on the underside of the barrel. Much of the original niter blue remains on the screw heads. The restored etched panel is a bit faint, otherwise the engraving and markings are clear. The grips are also very good with a couple of small minor nicks on the left toe, a tiny chip on the left heel and a pleasant appearance. The action is excellent.
