Manufactured in 1877 and deep relief engraved sometime in the twentieth century. The revolver features 95% coverage of a deep relief scroll engraving incorporating numerous gold highlighted deep relief scenes. The full length of the barrel features a stagecoach and Indian on horseback battle scene (which extends to the left side of the frame) and the reverse features a dog confronting a bear. The ejector rod housing has a fox chasing a pair of rabbits. Flanking the sighting groove on the top strap is a wagon train scene and three running elk. The frame sides feature buffalo scenes below the cylinder. The bust of Abraham Lincoln is featured on the recoil shield and a mountain lion is featured on the loading gate. The upper right side of the frame has a squirrel. Various animal depictions appear on the cylinder flats (with one scene of an Indian performing smoke signals), sides of the trigger guard, bottom of trigger guard, butt and back strap. The serial number is marked on the frame and trigger guard. The top of the barrel is script engraved "Colt 45." There is no engraver signature. Fitted with smooth grips featuring gold Rampant Colt medallions at the top. Comes with a contemporary Colt factory case.

Very fine as professionally custom embellished. The revolver retains 98% plus of the blue finish showing a small spot of thinning on the front strap and traces of a cylinder drag line. The grips are fine with a repaired chip near the bottom (left panel) and retaining most of the finish. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some minor handling/storage marks and some high spot wear to the lining.
