An estimate 15,000 or less of these small pocket pistols were manufactured in the 1870s and 1880s based on designs by Joseph Rider. Interestingly, more of these were engraved than were left plain. The design was clearly influenced by the popular Winchester rifles of the period and their predecessors and are among the earliest magazine fed pistols. The pistol takes up basically the same amount of pocket space as Remington's famous double derringer but allowed for five shots instead of two. This example has factory geometric, scroll, and punch dot engraving patterns as well as the standard sights and markings.

Excellent. 97% plus of the original nickel plating remains. There are some light scratches and marks from handling and storage and one small flake on the right side above the trigger. The grips are very good and have moderate handling and storage wear. The action functions fine, and the markings and engraved designs are crisp.
