Description:

The Moore derringers were manufactured in the first half of the 1860s and were the first large caliber cartridge derringers. This same basic design was also manufactured by the National Arms Company and Colt later in the century and employed the same large but slow .41 rimfire ammunition. This example has the scroll, arrow, and floral engraving and is marked with the address on the top of the barrel, the patent marking and serial number on the bottom, and "F69" on several components,

Rating Definition:

Fine. 50% of the original silver plating remains. Most of the loss has occurred on the frame. Both the silver and brass have an aged patina. The hammer retains strong niter blue finish, and the action functions excellently. The markings are faint, but the engraving patterns are crisp.
