Manufactured circa 1750. Swamped partly octagonal barrel, mounted with brass fore-sight and embellished with gold inlaid scrolls at breech and muzzle, lightly curved lock plate finely engraved with scene of seated classical figure with dogs while a deer hiding in the woods adorned the lock plate tail, cock engraved en suite, well-figured varnished walnut full stock embellished with relief carved scrolls and areas of incised scrolls, the stock mounted with chiseled and chased gilt-brass furniture throughout, the butt cap forming in the classic Carlsbad manner a crested eagle head, counter-late depicts a hunting scene.

Very good, once forming a pair, the barrel exhibits fine aged grey patina with some brown toning, chiseled and chased gilt-brass plate surrounding barrel tang is loose and lacking one screw, expected wear along edges to gilt brass mounts throughout.
