Barrel: 3 1/4 inch round
Finish: bright
Grip:
Stock: walnut
Item Views: 1610
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 97
Class: Antique
Description:

This is an attractive pair of diminutive flintlock pistols. They have all iron mountings and are fitted on walnut stocks with attractive Baroque floral carving near the upper tangs and additional raised carving along the bottom. The flats have tear drop finials, and the pommel caps are similar to those found on larger cavalry pistols. Though unmarked, they were likely manufactured in France in the 18th century. Ramrods are not included.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The iron has a mix of gray and brown patina and moderate oxidation. The trigger guard finial is bowing away from the stock. The stock is fine and has mild dings and marks, a small chip ahead of the frizzen, a hairline tension crack at the left flat, and fairly crisp carving. The hammer is broken, but the top jaw piece is still with lot.
