Barrel: 1 1/4 inch round
Finish: brown/casehardened
Grip: antique ivory

Item Views: 1285
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 98
Class: Antique
Description:

This matching pair of pistols has floral engraving on the frames, Damascus barrels, smooth grips, folding triggers, and "907" near the breech. They come in a French fitted cased disguised as a book (Colt is known to have done this!) with a powder flask, container with several lead balls, and a combination wrench/screwdriver/bullet mold. Small pistols like this have been nicknamed muff pistols because they could be concealed in a hand warmer, but most were probably carried in coat pockets. The top of the case has "LR" in Gothic letters, and the "spine" has "DROIT CANON."

Rating Definition:

Fine overall as period refinished. The barrel has distinct Damascus patterns, and strong case colors are on the top and bottom of the action. The remaining surfaces have browned. The action functions fine. The fine grip has attractive checkerboard grain and a few cracks. The engraving patterns are crisp.

See A.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall as period refinished. Strong Damascus patterns are visible on the barrel, and 75% of the case colors remain on the action. Some areas are starting to brown out. The grip is also fine and has attractive checkered grain, some stains/discoloration, and slight gap at the junction with the back of the action. The engraving patterns are crisp, and the action functions fine. The accessories are all fine as well as the case, which is also fine with moderate storage wear and some leather separation on the spine.
