This revolver was manufactured by the renowned Parisian gunmaker Louis-Francois Devisme. Devisme exhibited his work in London and Paris and was highly regarded for his technical and artistic gunmaking skills. The top of the barrel is signed "Devisme a Paris." Full coverage deep relief floral scroll engraving appears on the back strap, butt and cylinder with the engraving extended to the front strap, trigger guard, barrel lug, and top and bottom of the frame. Proofmarks are found on the right and left sides of the barrel lug, front cylinder face and underside of the frame. The front cylinder face has a Liege "ELG" proof. The revolver is fitted with fixed sights and beautifully relief carved top piece ebony grips. The floral motif carving on the grips complements the engraving on the metal surfaces. The grip screws (two in all) have engraved heads and escutcheons. The butt has a compartment and is marked "DEVISME BTE." The partitioned case is lined in green felt and contains a cleaning rod, plain powder flask (broken spring), single cavity bullet mold/nipple wrench, percussion cap container, screwdriver, mallet and case key.

Very good. Overall the revolver has a bright appearance with a crisp engraving. Three small chips of metal are missing from the frame behind the rear sight. The grips are fine with a crisp carving. Mechanically excellent. The relined case is good with a number of minor handling/storage marks and some high spot wear on the lining.
