Description:

This revolver is a transitional piece between the bar hammer, double action pepperbox revolvers and standard percussion revolvers. The design essentially consists of a traditional bar hammer pepperbox with a short cylinder and a barrel threaded on the cylinder pin. Like a pepperbox, there is no cylinder stop which could result in disaster if the gun fired with the cylinder improperly aligned with the barrel. The hammer and action are engraved, and the grips are checkered. The barrel and action are blued, and the cylinder and hammer are casehardened. The grip is finely checkered and has a silver initial plate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 90% of the original blue finish, and the action retains 30%. The cylinder and hammer have 60% of the subdued original case colors. There is one particularly vibrant patch on the cylinder. The cap compartment in the butt will not open properly but retains strong original blue finish. The grip is very good and has sharp checkering and a few dents and light scratches. The action functions fine. The English proofs and engraving are crisp.
