Description:

This is very fine example of a wartime armorer cutaway P38 pistol. This pistol is completely void of any factory markings except for "P38" on the left side of the slide. The barrel is stamped with a small "cyq" and a "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proof on the locking block indicating that it was probably a very late war manufactured/assembled pistol. The left side of the slide has a single milling cut over the recoil spring, while the right side has been cutaway in 10 different areas of the pistol. All of the mating and or functional components can be viewed. Originally, it had an all blued, rough semi-milled metal finish overall with the cutaway areas highlighted in red paint. It is fitted with a set of dark brown, almost black ribbed bakelite grips. It is complete with one blued magazine that is only marked "P.38" on the lower side. The magazine itself is even cutaway on the right side.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 75% of the original blue remaining, fading and thinning on all the metal surfaces, with an almost gray patina on the front grip strap. The red painted areas retain 60% of the painted colors. The grips are in very fine condition with only minor handling marks overall. Factory cutaway pistols are fairly rare as most were never brought back by returning Gis.
