Description:

There has always been great speculation as to the meaning of the noted "Ku" suffix on the serial number of the barrel extension. The current conventional wisdom indicates that the "Ku" stands for "Kummerrer", translated as substandard or mis-sized parts. The theory is that these Lugers were actually a late war (1944) time frame Luftwaffe contract that was assembled by the Mauser factory using leftover substandard or mis-sized parts. Regardless, they all have a mixed sized serial numbering sequence. The chamber is dated "41," and the toggle is marked "42." It has the full serial number placement on the frame and barrel extension and no markings on the barrel. The barrel extension has the noted additional "Ku" stamp in front of the serial number. The barrel, barrel extension and breechblock all have the late intertwined Luftwaffe "LZA" proofmark. The left side of frame is stamped "P08," and it has the standard "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" safe and loaded markings respectively. As noted, the parts have a mix of small and large serial numbers; all of them match, and the rear toggle and barrel are unnumbered. It has checkered walnut grips that are numbered "3595" lengthwise on back of each grip. It comes with two chrome plated, Haenel Schmeisser marked magazines with aluminum bases. The bases have been renumbered/restamped "1/3595" and "2/3595". It is complete with a black leather holster marked "cdg/41/eagle WaA101" and a police numbered and proofed takedown tool.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish overall, wear on the edges and high spots, and minor blue loss on the side pate hump. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is in fine condition with a redyed black color overall, tight stitching, and clear markings.
