This is an ultra rare, all original example of a DWM Model 1906 "Russian" contract Luger pistol. It was examined back in 2003, by several noted Luger collectors is considered to be one of the most original examples of these Russian Contract lugers. This is probably the most highly sought after, early contract Luger that was ever produced by DWM. There were exactly 1,000 of these pistols manufactured for the Czar of Russia; all having been manufactured within their own serial range of 1-1000. There are only a few authentic Russian contract lugers known today. This rare Luger is all original and in fine condition, with the distinctive crossed "Mosin Nagant" rifles over the chamber with the DWM marked toggle. It has the correct Cyrillic markings on the safety and extractor, as these frame forgings are the same as the early Bulgarian contract lugers. It has the early features such as the 1906 style grip safety, no stock lug and second pattern safety markings. These pistols have no firing or acceptance proofs and are marked in the correct commercial manner with the full serial number (591) on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel, with the last two digits (91) on the various small parts, (except the unnumbered firing pin) to include the back side of each grip panel. This beautiful Luger is complete with an original nickel plated, wood base commercial magazine. The bottom of the wood base is correctly marked in script, "Cal 9m/m". It comes with a handwritten letter of providence from another noted Luger collector who examined this rare pistol in 2003.

Very fine with 70% plus of the slightly faded original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with blue loss on the muzzle, front of the frame rails with the grip straps showing brown spotting and oxidation overall. The smaller parts retain 30% of their original straw colors overall. The grips are in fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides, with wear across the tops of the checkering mixed with small pressure dents and handling markings on the sides. Mechanically excellent. This is the real deal!
