Description:

This is an attractive example of a desirable late DWM, Model 1913 Commercial Luger. These Lugers were produced in 1913. This model of Luger can be distinguished from the later models based on two notable features: 1) they were made without a hold-open device, and 2) they are not fitted with a stock attachment lug. This rare late production example has the first model safety markings with the lower are still retaining its polished frame area with no "GESICHERT" markings and the special order with a grip safety, like the 1906 model. It has a blank chamber area with the standard DWM logo on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension, underside of the barrel, left side of the breechblock and toggle are all stamped with a single "crown/N" commercial proof. It has the late five digit serial number stamped on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel. It is numbered in a commercial style, last two digits of the serial number, somewhat hidden on the smaller parts. It is fitted with standard checkered walnut grips. These early commercial Lugers exhibit a high polish, rust blued finish with straw colors on the small parts. It has a polished steel magazine body with a unmarked wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% of the original blue finish overall with some cold blue touchup on the muzzle, grip straps and side plate. Minor edge and high spot wear. The smaller parts retain 98% of their restrawed colors. The grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checkering on both sides. A very attractive and scarce Model 1913 DWM Luger with a grip safety.
