Manufactured for the Royal Portuguese Navy, with only a limited number delivered before the Portuguese Monarchy collapsed in 1910. Blade front and notch rear sights, with a "crown/fouled anchor" logo on the chamber and the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle link. A "MP" stamp is present on the left side of the extension, with a "CARREGADA" marked extractor, bright-polished lower safety position, smooth back strap, checkered grips and a nickel finished magazine with a wood base marked "Cal.9m/m". Included with the pistol is a scarce Portuguese service rig, consisting of an unmarked black leather holster designed to hang from the shoulder (manufactured with an integral shoulder strap, with no provision for a belt loop) which contains a metal cleaning rod/oiler and a takedown tool, a matching dual magazine pouch attached to the strap, a pair of extra nickel finished magazines with concentric circle decorated "Cal. 9m/m" wood bases, and a leather lanyard.

Very good, with 80% of the original blue finish, showing areas of spotting and light pitting, a mixed brown and gray patina on the grip straps, minor dings along the sides of the frame and mild handling marks overall. The side plate has been refinished. The straw colored parts are bright overall, with some bright wear. The replacement grips are near mint, with fine color and crisp checkering, and the bases of the remarked modern wood base spare magazines show some cracks and dings. The leather is good, with general cracking and scuffing, while generally remaining solid and supple. Mechanically excellent.
