Description:

This late rifle has twenty-seven German silver inlays along the stock in primarily tear drop, crescent moon, and heart shapes. It has two side plates and is equipped with an engraved lock with "LEMAN/LANCTR.PA" marked beneath the bolster blade and notch sights, and double set triggers. The stock also has a German silver nose cap, pierced brass wear plate, a fancy brass patch box with eight piercings, and brass toe, comb, and cheekpiece plates.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel is mostly dark brown with some brighter tones at the edges and has mild overall pitting and some more extensive flash pitting at the breech. The lock is a dark, nearly blue tone and has light pitting. The lock and set triggers need some adjustments. Both appear complete. However, the lock will not hold when fitted on the gun, and the set triggers will not set. The brass has a well aged patina, and the German silver inlays have a lighter aged patina. The refinished stock is good with some fairly discreet repairs, crack under the lock and on the left flat, some scrapes and dings, and attractive striped figure.
