Originally intended for commercial sales in Switzerland, a number of 1906/20 Luger pistols were diverted in order to cash in on the American market, being marked to and sold via the firm of Abercrombie & Fitch of New York City, then the U.S.'s largest sporting goods retailer. This Luger has the early, short frame, the 1906 style grip safety, no stock lug and is marked "GELADEN" on the extractor. It also has the unaltered, first pattern safety with the lower polished safety area on the frame. The chamber is marked with the Swiss Cross in a sunburst and a "DWM" marked front toggle. The top center section of the barrel is marked "ABERCROMBIE & FITCH Co NEW YORK/MADE IN SWITZERLAND". The front of the frame, left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel are all stamped with serial number "2795". The grips are checkered, with straw finished small parts and a nickel finished magazine with a pair of nickel accent discs on the wood base. Also included with the lot is a reproduction brown leather flap holster marked with the "A&Fco" monogram on the flap and the monogram and address on the belt loop.

Very fine as professionally restored, with 95% plus blue, showing some bright edge wear and a small amount of spotting and handling marks overall. 80% of the straw color remains, with some fading and wear. The replacement grips are near mint, with sharp checkering and a few light dings. The holster is very good, with some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
